Two policemen were killed in an attack on the Inyi Police Station yesterday in the Enugu State’s Oji River Local Government Area.
Additionally, the assailants murdered Hon. Lucky, a councillor for Unadu Town in Enugu State’s Igbo Eze South Local Government.
The councilman allegedly died on Saturday in his village.
The gunmen who assaulted the police station in Oji River on Sunday morning also set the building on fire.
The gunmen were reportedly chanting “No election and police in Biafra country,” according to an eyewitness account.
According to reports, one of the two victims was a police officer who was on duty when the thugs stormed the station.
Two men’s bodies were found by the fence and a burning building serving as a police station were both shown in a viral video of the incident that went viral on Sunday afternoon.
It was evident from voices in the background of the film that one of the bodies was that of a police officer, but it was unclear if the second individual was also a police officer.
It was unsuccessful to elicit a response from the state police headquarters regarding the incidents.
