Imprisonment for Kidnapping In Ondo

A traditional chieftain was abducted in 2015, and four people were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison by the Akure High Court.

John Felix, Abraham Mike, Roson Anufa Amory, and Lucky Smart are the four prisoners.

Mr. David Ikpen, who was charged alongside the criminals, was nevertheless released and found not guilty due to a lack of evidence.

Ikpen, the late commander of the abduction gang’s driver, could not be held accountable for his late boss’s crimes, according to the presiding judge, Justice Aderemi Adegoroye.

On June 2, 2015, the Regeant of Akungba Akoko and Abdul Aliu were kidnapped along the Ose-Owo route, and the convicts were charged with conspiring to do so and demanding N100 million in ransom.

Additionally, they are alleged to have kidnapped Ijeoma Susan Azubuike on May 31 and demanded a N10 million ransom.

Justice Adegoroye ruled that Barr. John Olowookere’s prosecution team had established their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

On counts two, three, and four of bothering on kidnapping, he found four of the defendants guilty and sentenced them to life in prison. On count one of bothering on conspiracy to commit felony, he sentenced them to five years in prison with hard labor.

Olowookere claimed that the verdict proved that justice would eventually catch up to all lawbreakers albeit moving slowly.
