Superintendent Gambo Isah, a spokesman for the state’s Police Command, who had earlier verified the kidnapping, said the rescue came as a result of the police’s quick response to the distress call it received.
Isah said: “The Divisional Police Officer of Kankia Superintendent Ilyasu Ibrahim led his men, blocked the terrorists and engaged them in a gun duel leading to the rescue of the victims.
“The terrorists also came to the residence of the Registrar of the Isa Kaita College of Education, Salisu Gide within the metropolis and abducted him and his wife.
“Upon receipt of their distress call, we engaged the terrorists and rescued the registrar but the terrorists succeeded in taking away his wife’
Isah, who frequently reassured the people that a mission is underway to free her and other hostages as well as the terrorists, was spotted somewhere in the Batsari Local Government Area axis.
At about 5:17 am on Sunday, a similar occurrence took place at Sabuwar Kwata in the Jibiya Local Government Area, when the terrorists kidnapped three people, including two children and an adult
