Super Eagles striker Alex Iwobi and his Everton teammate Jordan Pickford have been recognized for their outstanding performances by being nominated for Premier League honors for September.

The Nigerian international, who is making a name for himself in a deeper central-midfield role for the Blues under manager Frank Lampard, is a contender for EA Player of the Month.

In the meantime, Pickford has been nominated for Castrol Save of the Month for two of his blocks in the goalless Merseyside derby draw on September 3 – the first for his effort tipping Darwin Nunez’s shot onto the woodwork, and the second for his low save to push Mohamed Salah’s late strike on to a post.

Iwobi, who was named player of the game, assisted Neal Maupay on his game-winning goal in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over West Ham United. The 26-year-old also shone in the Merseyside derby draw at Goodison Park.

Iwobi is among the players shortlisted for the September award, along with Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City, Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg of Tottenham, Jacob Ramsey of Aston Villa, and Philip Billing of Bournemouth.

The voting for both awards closes at 12 p.m. on September 26. Meanwhile, Pickford is competing against Alisson for the Liverpool goalkeeper’s save against Dwight McNeil in the Merseyside derby, Vicente Guaita of Crystal Palace against Newcastle, Huge Lloris of Tottenham against Fulham, and Danny Ward in Leicester’s match against Tottenham.
