According to a statement made on Wednesday by the University of Calabar UNICAL, the suspected kidnapper John Ewa, also known as “John Lyon,” is not a graduate of the school.
The university’s administration reportedly reacted angrily to the media claim and labeled it false in a statement released in Calabar by the institution’s registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe.
The Bayelsa Police Command detained Ewa in connection with kidnapping activities, according to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and she was then paraded before the media.
“The said John Ewa was never a student of the university, neither did he graduate from the institution.
“We urge members of the public to discountenance any information linking John Ewa to our prestigious university,” Egbe said in the statement.
