INTRODUCTION SELF
My name is AROYEHUN OLUWATOBI ABIOLA, AKA BOYKINGZ.
I was born in the early 90s into the family of 2 which made me the only boy and the last child of my parents. I was born and bred in Ilorin, Kwara state.
JOURNEY INTO MUSIC
I grew up in a students’ saturated area and you know students like listening to songs and that enshrined me into songs and I developed a zeal to become a musician someday.
I started associating with students by running errands for them, by doing this, they grant me access to their rooms, so I’d operate their sound systems and play whatever songs I find in their room.
They loved foreign rap music and some would even give me their Walkman CD Player. I grew up listening to foreign rap songs of 2pac, B.I.G, Lil wayne, Birdman, Snoop Dogg and some other top American rappers. This association opened my eyes and exposed me to the world of Music. This was in 2003.
You can say my exposure to music was at a very young age. Being a kid back then I had difficulties in understanding the way they pronounced their words when rapping, so I’d saved up some money to get lyrics books, which aided me in miming or mimick to their songs when next I listen to it. This done, I started working on my personal songs by composing and writing lyrics of my own songs in my music diary.
In 2008, I was seated in our sitting room along side with my elder and my best friend, I started showcasing my talents by singing and rapping my own songs. One of my elder brothers heard me singing and rapping, so he was like “Whose song did I just heard?” I told him mine. He then motivated me to enter the studio to record it. I had to teamed up with my friend Sunnysky, we started as a duo our duo Name was MURPHY TWICE. We parted ways few years because we had to chase another different goal aside doing music.
I went profesional in 2010 and later got singned to BOB RECORDZ on June 1st, 2015. It is an Ilorin-based record label.
RELEASED SONGS
During the time of my contract with the aforementioned recording label, I dropped a debuts single titled ‘COCO’, it was produced by the in House Producer ALI MELODY. This made me to become more famous in town and the track was promoted on many well recognized websites e.g Naijaloaded.com, jukebox.com, 47vibez.com.ng among others.
I dropped just a track under the record cos I had just a year contract with them before I left.
In 2017, I got signed to PARABIA MUSIC EMPIRE and my first debut track with the Label was titled “ORI”. ORI got more than 2,000 streams on AUDIOMACK. My second track titled SEMPE got a massive stream up. It was more than 10,000 on AUDIOMACK.
However, the recording label is on hold due to some personal reasons known only to the manager but I am still well associated with the Label.
YOUR MOST FAVORITE MOMENT AS A SINGER
It was in 2015 when I dropped my first debuty track. I got series of texts and calls from different people from all walks of life that I never expected it from. Everyone was like “Haaaaa, Arokingz you’re all over the internet now, we heard your just released track, it was amazing” all these made me felt like a superstar and it felt as if I was on top of everything.
YOUR SADDEST MOMENT
I have had series of sad moments but the most sad moment of my life was when I lost my Dad on the 11th of March, 112021. I felt that i had lost everything. My world was collapsing but my people’s words of encouragements, condolences and most my mum’s prayers kept me going.
YOUR BEST MOTIVATION
This would be the Giant of Afrobeats himself AYODEJI IBRAHIM BALOGUN better known as Wizkid. This young man has been my source of motivation ever since he emerged as a new artist under EME in 2009.
His kind of Music relieves my soul. I once started as a rapper but he made me switched to afrobeats and due to people saying that with time rappers won’t be relevant in Nigerian Music industry. This made me do more of Afrobeats beats. I can never go wrong with WIZKID.
WHAT YOU LOOK FORWARD TO
I look forward to a better future, where I reach stardom and be rated among the A-list in Nigeria, breaking bread with the kings.
