In a gas explosion that shook the capital of Ogun State, Abeokuta, one Mr. Saula Ajayi lost his wife.

In the Friday incident, Ajayi also suffered losses of millions of dollars’ worth of assets and property.

According to reports, the explosion happened when a tenant was using gas to cook in a bungalow in the Ijeja neighborhood of Abeokuta South.

The bungalow was reportedly destroyed, leaving its occupants “empty and homeless.”

The elderly Ajayi, whose wife perished in the tragedy, claimed he lost N850,000 as a result of the fire.

When the explosion happened, Ajayi’s elderly wife was in a coma, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful, and on Monday the hospital declared her dead.

As of Tuesday night, according to neighbors, the guy has not been informed of his wife’s passing.

Counting his losses, Ajayi said: “I just came back from the bank with the sum of N500,000 and I had N350,000 at home before, now everything is gone.

“This clothes on me was given to him by a neighbour,” he said.

He continued by saying that all of his possessions, including his Army-related paperwork, were destroyed in a fire.

As of the time this story was filed, Fatai Adefala, the director of the Ogun State Fire Service, could not be reached.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, added that he had not received a briefing on the incident.
