A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Kwara State, Honourable Marooph Bukoye Bintinlaye has described the death of Alhaji Akeem Lawal, alias Akoko Megida as shocking as well as a personal loss.
In a statement by his Media Aide on Saturday, August 20, Honourable Bintinlaye said he still find it very difficult to believe that his Alhaji Lawal who had been his friend from his school days at Itafa Primary Model School is gone.
“Haaaa, haaaa, toba se pe aiku laye, aba ba Muhammadu, aba Muhameda, oke mefa lagbaji, awa koba kan laye ma. I remembered our days in Itafa Model school when you joined us in Primary 5, from Anilelerin Primary School, I made sure I became your friend because of your Karate skills. We become so closed that the trio of us, Debo Adeyemo (Templer), Akeem Lawal Megida and myself had to join our tables together in the class so that I can use both of them as a shield against provocations (as they were common in those days) from likes of Bashiru Adeoti, Tajudeen & others.
“We shared this bond till your last breathes. Both of you are no more. Hmmmm kulunafsi zaikatil maoti.
“Dear friend, I find your demise very shocking and sad to hear. Death cut off aspirations, expectations and plans. When we saw the last time I came home and had plentiful discussions, how could I know it would be for the last time?
“We had great childhood memories at Itafa Primary Model School, we evolved through the years and fate brought us together as political allies.”
Hon Bintinlaye subsequently prayed that Allah grant Alhaji Lawal Al-jannah Fridaus and his family fortitude to bear the loss.
“May almighty Allah SWT forgive all your shortcomings, accept your return, expand ur grave, give the family and friends fortitude to bear this irreparable loss & make aljana firdaus your final abode. Honestly you will be greatly missed. Good night Alh. Akeem Lawal. BismilLah kulwuallahu 3x”
