The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Osun State has recorded a total number of 8 absconders and extended service year for 5 Corps Members as 3068 passed out of the Scheme.

This was disclosed by the state’s coordinator, Mrs. Abdulwahab Olayinka at the Passing Out Ceremony of the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 on Thursday.

Mrs. Olayinka also enjoined the Corps Members to inculcate the tradition of discipline, hard work, and self reliance that they have learnt in the Scheme.

In her words, “as you all know, many vices have become the order of the day in your generation, but as a product and brand of this respected scheme, I implore you to stand out, stand your ground and never compromise. Remember that there are no shortcuts on the road to good success, as such there will be challenges on your way, but I urge you never to compromise your integrity and virtues as rest is only sweet after you have labored.”

She afterwards implored them to cultivate skills learnt in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) class in a bid to elevate the economic situation in the country.

Also, the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola saluted the courage, enthusiasm and doggedness exhibited by the Corps Members throughout the one year service to the nation in the state.

“Your comportment, conduct and interaction with yourselves and the good people of Osun State within this one year are highly commendable and mark you out as patriotic citizens who are ready to carry the dreams and aspiration of our Nation for a better and greater tomorrow.

“As our symbols of heritage and hope, I charge you to continue to radiate the capability and readiness to put in your best for the nation with your experience and youthful strength bestowed on you by the Almighty.”

Oyetola who was ably represented by the Osun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lawal Azeez Olayemi enjoined the corps members to always make use of trainings garnered in the one year scheme to move the country forward.

“You have selflessly and humbly served the people of the State, rendering quality services in the various sectors you were posted to across the State; I assure you the good people of Osun State are appreciative of your services and will not forget you in a jiffy.

“I urge you not to let go so soon but continue the good works even as you step into the larger society.” He said.
