The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) yesterday said the average price of the Household Kerosene (HHK) rose from N679.54 per cent in May to N761.69 per cent in June, this year, being 12.09 per cent rise.
In the same period, according to NBS, the average price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) diesel soared by 9.34 per cent from N671.08 in the preceding to an average of N733.78 in June.
On kerosene, the Bureau in its National Household Kerosene Price Watch (June 2022) said the average retail price per litre of Household Kerosene (HHK) paid by consumers in June 2022 increased by 12.09 per cent on a monthly from N679.54 in May to N761.69 last month.
“On a year-on-year basis, the average retail price per litre rose by 105.70% from N370.29 in June 2021,” it added.
The report noted that the state profile analysis showed that the highest average price per litre in June 2022 was recorded in Ogun with N961.54, followed by Enugu with N961.11 and Ekiti with N926.47.
On the other hand, according to NBS, the lowest price was recorded in Nasarawa with N618.06, followed by Rivers with N618.42 and Jigawa with N620.
Besides, the report revealed that South-West recorded the highest average retail price per litre of Household Kerosene with N878.05, followed by South-East with N 846.64 and North-East with N750.42, while the South-South recorded the lowest with N687.81.
The report noted that “The average retail price per gallon of Household Kerosene paid by consumers increased by 13.35 per cent on a month-on-month basis from N2,358.30 in May 2022 to N2673.04 in June 2022.
“On a year-on year basis, this increased by 112.97 per cent from N1,255.15 in June 2021.
On state profile analysis, Abuja recorded the highest average retail price with N3590.00, followed by Enugu with N3178.33 and Oyo with N3136.07. On the other hand, Borno recorded the lowest price with N2300.00, followed by Yobe and Niger with N2,350.00 and N2,390.00.
“Analysis by zone showed that Southwest recorded the highest average retail price per gallon of Household Kerosene with N2,996.86, followed by Southeast and Northwest with N2,851.52 and N2,633.32, while the Northeast recorded the lowest with N2,428.33.”
On diesel, the NBS said the average retail price of Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) paid by consumers increased by 202.67 per cent on a year-on-year basis from a lower cost of N242.43 per litre recorded in the corresponding month of last year to a higher cost of N733.78 per litre in June 2022.
The report said: “On a month-on-month basis, an increase of 9.34 per cent was recorded from N671.08 in the preceding month of May to an average of N733.78 in June 2022. Looking at the variations in the state prices, the top three states with the highest average price of the product in June 2022 include, Kwara (N800.00), Delta (N798.50) and Katsina (N786.36).
“Furthermore, the top three lowest prices were recorded in the following State namely, Bauchi (N650), Yobe (N675.00) and Kogi (N678). The Zonal representation of the average price of Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) shows that Northwest has the highest price of N758.79 while North East has the lowest price of N715 when compared with other zones.”
