Fashion is an ever-changing industry, with new styles and trends appearing every season. However, it’s often said that fashion goes round in a circle, with old styles being recycled and reinterpreted for modern times. In this blog post, we’ll explore the idea that fashion is cyclical, and take a look at some of the most iconic fashion trends in the local sense that have made a comeback in recent years.
Before we proceed, let me familiarize you with what is considered fashion according to the dictionary and the observable lifeforms around us that is in line with what we are about to identify.
Fashion is regarded as the form of anything, shape, size, appearance, mode, model, structure pattern, or the general appearance in which an object appears; and in this regard, we will be focusing only on clothing, its accessories, and fabrics manipulated into pleasing styles.
A casual stroll on the street or a random sampling of clothing worn on a weekday to an Owanbe party, and you shall find, the rotund shimmering Awolowo brim cap sitting gingerly on a male head adding sophistication to the air around them with a touch of royalty.
By the virtue of naming and identification, the brimmed cap is the trademark favorite of that Yoruba iconic politician, Awolowo, who is notably famous for his impact on the educational sector in western Nigeria during his reign.
So to say, the Awolowo cap is notably older and worthy of certain respect from We, Gen Z generation as it is a cap that has seen much black hair turn grey over and over again. So to speak, When next you see that cap, try cut cap for am, na odogwu e be.
For the culture, the chilling weather seems not to be able to daunt his comeback into the fashion world, albeit with a little bit of engineering in his before extravagant size.
I am talking about Danshiki/Eshiki; that youthful personification of a dress with jumpy shoulder-length arms hanging just a little bit below the shoulder blade.
Its comeback seems slow, but from the looks of things, it is gaining a steady leg into the flowing stream of trending dressing styles both among the youths and the steadily aging humans who find it fun resisting the aging clock of time with their dress sense.
Combined with its versatility and dual multipurpose credence to go down with most English trousers as a combination or a stand-alone casual dress that is also fit for occasions, paving the way towards its resurgence in the fast pace cyclical fashion world.
