Okechukwu Okoye, a politician who was decapitated in Anambra State, has been laid to rest.
Six days after Okoye and his campaign director, Cyril Chiegboka, were kidnapped in Aguata in May, Okoye’s head was dropped at Chisco Park in Amichi.
Anambra Governor Charles Soludo mourned the deceased lawmaker and posted pictures from his funeral on Facebook.
He wrote, “The death of Hon. Okechukwu Okoye (Okey dị okay) is one too many and it hits personally. While I joined family, friends and well-wishers to bid Okey a painful farewell, I did not mince words in restating the resolve of our administration to ensure that Okey and every onye Anambra who has fallen to the evil wind of this merchants of death will not be in vaịn.
“The cowards responsible for your gruesome murder will never have the last laugh.
“Rest in peace Okey!”
