As the 2022 Osun State Gubernatorial Election approaches, a non-governmental organisation in Osun State, Future Builders Initiative (FBI) in partnership with the United Youth for Growth and Development (UYGD) has commenced voter’s education and sensitization program tagged “BeADecider Campaign”.
The campaign which kick-started at the Fountain University, Osogbo on Tuesday, 7th of June 2022, with hundreds of students, security officials, and members of the Civil Society Organisation in attendance, has the major objective of increasing voters turnout in the forthcoming Osun election.
On Thursday, 9th of June 2022, the campaign also proceeded to strategic places within Osogbo metropolis like the Orisumbare and Akindeko Markets, including Old garage and Oke-fia motor parks, to propagate the importance of participating in the electioneering and political processes.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the programme, the Campaign’s Team Lead, who is also the Executive Director of Future Builders Initiative, Mr. Opeyemi Oladimeji said the sensitization is part of the scheduled activities to advocate for Voter’s registration, Permanent Voter’s Card Collection, and voting in the coming Osun Election.
He reiterated the commitment of the projects to continue the voter’s education and sensitization campaign in different communities and clusters, with a view to having huge turnout in the forthcoming polls on July 16.
In his words, “The campaign was an avenue for us to share information on voting guidelines to the people, respond to their questions, and feed them with fact on the election and voting processes.
“We’ve guided them on how to go about collecting their PVCs, while we also secure their commitment to vote in the coming election and encourage others to do the same.
“In the coming days, we will take the campaign to different communities within the State, including religious centres, youth groups, markets, motor parks and many others. We believe this will positively change the narrative, and drastically improve the voter’s turnout in the coming Osun polls”.
The #BeADecider Campaign was supported by Yiaga Africa and the National Endowment for Democracy.
