Nothing so funny this week, its quite boring and boring, leg-benzing like that of Israelites, that walk and walk for over forty years in the wilderness for not obeying the commandments of God almighty, until they perished. My able-bodied apology to the Christians!
Since the past few days, lagosian have been suffering and smiling, with the restrictions placed on motorcycle in six prominent local government of the state. And which eventually led lagosians to launched operation O’trek for the second time in the history of his excellency governor Babajide Sanwo olu administration.
It could be recall that his excellency placed a ban on a Motorcycle and Tricycle popularly known as “Okada and Keke ” on the first of February in 2020, in some areas of the state. Everything was truncated for an average lagosian then, which eventually led some people back to their various indigenous state. Well, according to his excellency, he banned Okada and Keke then basically to abated and curtailed the heinous acts of some suspected robbers that hides under the influence of motorcycle riders to snatch people’s bags and other worthy belongings.
Then, the ban only lasted for a few weeks before protest rocks the streets of Lagos State mostly by the commuters, Okada riders association and Tricycle Operators of the state. Fortunately, his excellency was able to reversed the ban due to the affliction and shortage of transit in the state. This time around, the case is totally different, his excellency Babajide have made it publicly known that the ban on Motorcycle is indefinite and a total restrictions. The six local governments listed by the governor are Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, and Apapa.
Whereas nobody will explain to Lagosians that nothing is so funny right now, they knew that already. Lagosians are so frustrated, how I wished his excellency think twice before placing the ban on the motorcycle ; it’s true that his excellency his perfectly working to achieve the best and a sustainable living environment for all dwellers of the state. Without being intimidated or threatening by any scrupulous means. No doubt! Lagos is a cosmopolitan city that deserves nothing but peace. Comically, Who will manage peace for an Okada man with six children and a wife that eventually lost his job? Due to some rotten eggs or who will preach for a man surfing for an house rent and later dismissed from his job without any sustainable work.
So sad! Mr governor just want them to go like that. I believed that situation led some to become a motorcyclist, some by accidents. I even learnt that many riders graduated from a reputable university in the country. Still yet, they found nothing joyful at the end of the years, strength and capital spent in school. It’s now obvious that they have successfully wasted years in school.
Aptly speaking, Yorubas are proverbial blessed indeed, they toy with words, they connote and denote meanings to word, such is ” tí elese bá’n jẹ́ ìyà Ẹsẹ̀, aláiṣẹ má jẹ nínú è” Meaning that when the guilty are punished, the innocent will also shared from it. How I wished his excellency can give a listen ears. Instead of generalizing the total restrictions on some average men whose live to see another beautiful day by motorcycling, the culprit should be rather apprehend not the public.
