Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, the senator for Kwara Central in the National Assembly, has accused Gov. Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman of treachery and called the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) party primaries in the state a charade.
On the “Sunrise daily” program on Channels Television, Senator Oloriegbe made these accusations.
Oloriegbe accused the governor of imposing his will on the APC in the state, disregarding any pretense of democratic principles, and failing to hold legitimate delegate elections.
In his words, “Like in Kwara State, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq just sat down with few of his people one night and they produced a supposed delegate list for the whole State.
“The aspirants didn’t even know the delegates, they change them at will. Thus, they only selected those that’ll take instructions from them, in some instances some even took oath.”
He claimed that despite the Governor’s opposition, the majority of Kwara electorates wanted him to return to the Senate due to his excellent performance. As a result, the Governor ordered and coerced the hand-picked delegates to vote against him in the primary elections.
According to him, the governor’s decision could prevent the party from winning the state election in 2023.
“I challenge the Governor to a public meeting. Can you imagine a month after the so-called primaries, my Governor hasn’t deemed it fit to call me, how then do the party intends to win” he asked rhetorically.
“Up till 48hours before our primaries, I had very cordial relationship with my Governor, he just cut off ever since because of his treacherous actions against me at the primaries” he added
