A gospel artist, Oluwafemi Opeyemi Abraham, alias ‘D’Gospeller’ has claimed that he invites angels whenever he wants to compose songs.
Speaking during an exclusive interview, Oluwafemi said, “you see whenever I want to compose I do say, “angels with six wings, we have a meeting”. If I want to compose in the morning I say it in the evening and if evening I say it in the morning. It’s reoccur so much that you can say those angels minister to me during compositions.
“I also pray for “tongue of song… Spirit of song… And that my voice be mixed with angels of heaven that sing…”
“The second prayer is that, “Oh Lord, turn everything to song for me. Whatever I see turn it into song for me. If there’s a downpour turn it into song for me. If there is a scouring sun turn it to song for me.”
Also, he said his journey into music started in 2013 as a secular musician.
“I started in 2013 as a secular musician; Hip-hop rapper in precision with the stage name AB Great; AB being Abraham abbreviated. I released my first studio track in the following year titled “Wọn ní Sign”. (That was the year I gained admission to study Mass Communication in Federal Polytechnic Offa). I went further to release other tracks such as Claro (2014), Street Dancehall (2014), Freestyle Rap (2015) Offa (2015) featuring other artists, Pasuma (2015), One shot (2015) and No Surrender (2016).
“I can say there were two phenomenal personified in people who changed my direction of song. I can categorized them as main and subordinate.
“In 2018, five years after I started I went into gospel music and this was majorly because my mother, from the start, has been expressing her thoughts and feelings which were of displeasure to my career. Yorùbá says “kókó kò làá rọ ifá adití” (insistence must be employed in delivery of the oracle messages to the deaf). Mother was truly insistent in those years and I am sure she prayed a lot that God should touch my heart to His way. He did.
“She used to say, “Ọpẹyẹmi, truly you are a musician but secularism is not your way. You are called to be a gospel singer. Kúrò nibẹ má kọ irú orin yẹn mọ. Orin ìgbàgbọ́, orin Kristẹni ni Ọlọhun pé ọ sí; kii se irú èyí tóun kọ yẹn (desist from that line of music. God called you to Christian songs and not that)”.
“I knew she was being truthful. If all the people in this life lie, my mother who gave birth to me would never tell me a lie.
“Subordinate was my brother. You can say I follow my Oluwafemi Isaac Olaoluwa’s footsteps. He’s also a gospeller before he become a pastor in the Northern part of the country.” he said.
Oluwafemi is a minister of the Gospels, trained journalist, evangelist, mediator and song writer. He is the current Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Welfare Officer of Gospel Musician Association of Nigeria [GOMAN], Ọffà/Ọyun Chapter of Kwara State, and also former Choir Master of Christ Apostolic Church Offa District Coordinating Council, Youth Wing [DCC] from 2019 to 2020.
